The Maxxis Trepador Competition (M8060) is an iconic off-road tire developed for extreme off-road and competitive use, designed to deliver maximum traction in the most challenging conditions.
The tire's key differentiator compared to standard off-road tires is its ultra-soft, high-grip racing rubber compound—often referred to as a "sticky" compound. This material bites into rock, stones, and slippery obstacles with exceptional friction. However, the trade-off for this soft compound is that the tire is not intended for winter use; handling or driving in freezing temperatures should be avoided to prevent the rubber compound from cracking.
The tire’s rugged bias-ply construction, combined with nylon reinforcements, results in a casing that is exceptionally flexible and durable. When driven at low air pressures, the tire conforms precisely to the terrain, increasing the contact patch and maximizing traction. At the same time, the robust bias-ply structure provides the sidewalls with superior protection against cuts and sharp rock edges.
The tire features a highly aggressive tread pattern. Its large, stepped tread blocks effectively clear mud, while small sipes ensure excellent grip on wet rock. Additionally, protruding side lugs along the tire's edges provide vital lateral traction when driving in deep ruts or leaning against rock faces.
